ACAE Call for Site Evaluator Nominations
The ACAE is seeking nominations from qualified audiologists who would be interested in applying for the position of Site Evaluator. This voluntary position is a three-year term with an option of a second three-year term on the invitation of the ACAE Chair. A Site Evaluator can be a practitioner or educator who is interested in participating in the important and critical role of evaluating academic programs for accreditation. This person will convey the philosophy and knowledge of ACAE to administrators, faculty, students, preceptors of universities and colleges that offer doctoral-level (i.e., Au.D.) programs. Although the experience requires a serious commitment and substantial amount of time and effort to the process, it is challenging, meaningful and rewarding. Audiologists who served in this capacity have remarked about the professional learning and growth that they experienced.
The process for selection has two phases. Phase One requires a nominee to complete a Nomination Form and submit it to the Executive Director, ACAE, by fax (202.544.9318) or regular mail. After a review process by a committee of the ACAE Board of Directors, a group will be selected to attend a required Training Program. Phase Two is the Training Program. The initial training will be two to two-and-a half days in length and selected candidates will be given a comprehensive understanding of the ACAE philosophy and process. Prior to an on-site, the Site Visit Evaluator will be given guidance and written and verbal instructions about the upcoming visit.
ACAE is looking for nominees who are interested in the academic and clinical education of Au.D. students, and who will provide assurance to the relevant publics that educational standards of excellence are being upheld.
An Accreditation Evaluator Workshop will be held in January 2009 in Orlando, Florida.
